Busy October....

Cave's photo shoot October 2014

Well I've been a busy bee lately. I've been trying to get my 5 workouts in each week, along with lots of fun filled weekend's. I'm actually pretty exhausted, but it's ok, I signed myself up for these busy times and I'm loving living in the moment and being present.

Sorry for all the grainy iphone pics. It is what it is, right? I think I've been shying away from posting for fear my pictures will be too grainy or not represent my best, but who cares. It's my blog, and a place for me to write down these things so that when I look back, I can remember all the good things in my life, and perhaps along the way, inspire others to document their lovely life.

I went to see Katy Perry in concert on a whim. Some of the co-workers of mine had discussed potentially getting cheap tickets the day of the show, and they were right! She was in Dallas for 2 nights, so we scored tickets for Thursday's night's show. I guess I could be considered a fan, I mean, I like her songs, they are pretty catchy. I'd be lying if I said they didn't make me bust a move here and there, or sing "Dark Horse" at the top of my lungs while the bass is thumping in the Audi. Just sayin. It was a colorful concert, and all her costumes were so Katy Perry. I didn't realize she was so PG and had so many little fans, it was too cute. I guess I assumed the same folks that went to see Gaga, would be here, but not so much. Glitter, glitter, glitter, and LOTS of pink.

Luminate 5k! So fun!

Luminate 5k! So fun!

I did a 5k at night. It was in Grand Prairie, which was about 45 mins away from my house, not sure what I was thinking when I signed up for it. Then again, I'm sure it was the excitement of getting signed up and making this "get healthy" track started. I've been working on getting in my miles at least 5 days a week. Some week's I'm good, some, not so much. It's all good, because what I've done in the past 1.5 months is so much better than what I have been doing for the past 5 years, which was pretty much nothing. :) I finished in 58 mins. I know it's not fast, but hey, I'm a beginner, give me time and I'll soon be running or maybe doing half marathons!

The Cap Lunch!

The Cap Lunch!

A few of my previous work crew member's took me out for a long and overdue farewell lunch at my favorite place, The Capital Grille. They are a very busy bunch, so after the crazy quarter close, October was a better time for them. It was the first time I had been to The Cap during lunch, and it was as amazing as it is at dinner, minus the wine. A friend told me to go without drinking was almost sacrilegious, well almost. I was with co-workers, and I am a classy lady you know.

I got a haircut and toned down those highlights that were supposed to be ombrΓ© the first time around. Clearly, I was a bit disappointed the first time around, but my stylist did good this time. I love my girl and she's so great a cutting my thick, coarse, crazy, curly, hair, plus she's so nice! I needed to give her a second chance, and she nailed it! I was so happy with the color too. I realized that lighter blondie thing, just wasn't for me, but fun while it lasted.

I hosted a Pampered Chef party and had such a great turnout. I always cringe at doing those. On one hand, I am so excited to open up my home and have people over, but the on the other hand, I feel as though no one will show up because it is after all, a place to spend money. Thankfully, Pampered Chef is a favorite and most people are always interested in getting a new gadget, or at least coming to get some great eats.

I then had a relaxing crafting Sunday with my cheese board, wine, and picking out my wish list from the Pampered Chef catalog. I was overwhelmed with all the choices. I later made a Merry Christmas banner for a friend who was taking pictures with her family the following weekend. It turned out so cute, I want to make myself on for my mantel. I've made these before, once for our wedding Thank You cards, and another for a friend saying, "Just Married." They are very time consuming, as the letters are hand cut from felt. It's a lot of work it to get that perfect lettering. The painted letters I've seen on etsy always make me cringe a little when the paint is bleeding or the letters look a little wonky. Just my opinion. I'll be doing a DIY post on them soon. I made a quick NOEL one for our photo shoot this past weekend.

We then celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary at, you guessed it, The Capital Grille. I've been a spoiled rotten, and very bad, I might add. Joshua surprised me with this dinner and had it planned out for awhile. He such a good hubby. I was totally surprised and enjoyed every bit of it. They even gave us a complimentary dessert, which was YUMMY!! I love my hubby. p.s. If you ever dine at the Plano location and want to sit in the terrace, ask for Pam. She's my favorite. However, it was a little too hot that day, and they had the window's open, so we opted to sit inside the the cool air. The waiter was just a nice, but Pam made her way to come over and see me and congratulate us. She's a special lady that Pam. I may, or may not be a regular there. :)

This past weekend, I went to see Pitbull and Enrique with my girl's. It was a birthday gift to Cristina from July! So we couldn't wait for this night to arrive. We had a fantastic night and shaked our booties the whole time. Pitbull rocked the stage in style, while drenched in sweat. We saw him last year in June and I had assumed he was just a mess because it was hot, but no, he's just a sweaty hot guy. lol. He played some of my old favorites, you know, the songs that he did before he made it "big." Anyone remember the song, "Shake?" No? It's ok, not a lot of folks around me did either and I didn't care if I was the only one doing so in my section. I danced as if I was back in college, hitting up the dance floor. Back in the day, he was just some other Spanish dude in a rap song that added that Spanish influence. Now, he's his own brand, and everyone does songs with him. It's ok, I cheer them on still, but always remember where they started. Looking at you Gaga, I remember that first album.

Enrique was a hottie. I haven't kept up with him in a long time, and didn't realize he was so skinny, and tall. He's a handsome fella for sure. But he also seems very sweet and very attentive to his fans. He tried to reach out as much as he could and even had a small stage setup in the back for a more intimate feeling, along with pulling in some random fans from the very back of the crowd. It was sweet.

As you can see, I've been a very busy girl. :)
